A Family Business with 220+ Years of Combined Experience
Boss EGI started their journey in 1997 when Roger Carper, Sr. and Roger Carper, Jr. started Boss Excavating, Inc. In 2009, the company was re-established by Roger Carper, Jr. as Boss Excavating & Grading, Inc. The team started with one crew of four people working out of Roger’s basement.
By 2012, Boss EGI moved to a small office in Hilliard, Ohio with 11 employees. In 2013, Boss EGI was awarded the first 5 of 15 elementary schools South-Western City Schools decided to rebuild: Alton Hall, Bolton Crossing, Finland, Prairie Norton, and Stiles. With the passing of Roger Sr. in 2014, Jr. wanted to do something to commemorate his father. In 2015, Jr. established a Perpetual Scholarship through the Builders Exchange of Central Ohio in Roger Carper, Sr.'s name. This scholarship is awarded to individuals who plan to continue their education by studying construction management or civil engineering.
Today, Boss EGI is proud to have a team of 55 employees, a fleet of 55 pieces of equipment with GPS on the earthwork moving equipment, and 65 trucks and trailers. Boss has 8 crews consisting of 4-7 operators and laborers.
Based out of their newest location in Columbus, Ohio, Boss EGI is proud to carry on a family tradition of providing site-work and underground utilities for commercial, industrial, and residential customers. In addition to these markets, Boss EGI is ODOT pre-qualified and a licensed General Contractor, priming a few projects a year for local municipalities, airports, and the State of Ohio.

2009
• Boss Excavating & Grading, Inc re-established. HQ was held in Roger’s basement. We started with 1 crew of 5. Included in this crew were both Roger, Sr. and Jr.
• Boss EGI's 1st job was the Sam’s Club in St. Clairsville.
2011
Boss EGI bought our first piece of equipment, a 1998 Cat 416 Backhoe.
2012
Boss EGI moved our headquarters to a small office in Hilliard, Ohio.
2013 - 2015
Boss EGI was awarded 5 out of the 15 South-Western City Schools: Bolton Crossing Elementary, Finland Elementary, Prairie Norton Elementary, Alton Hall Elementary and Stiles Elementary.
2014
• Boss EGI bought our first Lowboy truck to haul our own equipment.
• Boss EGI established the "Roger Carper, Sr. Dedication Award", given to the most dedicated employee annually.
2015
• Boss EGI broke ground for new headquarters.
• Boss EGI established a Perpetual BX Scholarship in Roger Carper, Sr.'s name.
2016
The new Boss EGI headquarters is finished and we moved our location.
2017
Boss EGI expands on our new building.

Office Personnel
Roger Carper Jr.
President
As President of Boss EGI, Carper, 52, is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the company from bidding, through the building phases of the projects, and billing. His other responsibilities include business development, project management, and estimating. Before Starting Boss EGI, Carper was a senior estimator for Performance Site Company, where he managed an estimating team. During Carper’s career, he has worked in the field as a grade checker, surveyor, and pipe layer for various companies. Carper founded Boss EGI on April 1st, 2009. Carper holds a BSA in Education from The Ohio State University and is and is a 2007 Graduate of the “Rising Leaders” program, a leadership development program offered through the OSU Fisher College of Business and the Central Ohio Builders Exchange.Jeremy Carper
Vice President of Operations
Jeremy is the Vice President of Operations at Boss EGI, where he has been employed since 2009. His experience is vast, having started out as a laborer under the tutelage of his grandfather, Roger Carper Sr. from whom he learned and improved his knowledge base. This experience has prepared him to excel in his current position at Boss, where he’s able to pre-plan jobs to save our customers time and money. Through Jeremy’s dedication to each project, Boss EGI meets promised deadlines. With Jeremy’s experience of planning job sites and the logistics of moving materials to and from the job site, he was inspired to purchase a fleet of dump trucks. He is the owner of Phantom Transport, LLC, founded in 2016, which specializes in hauling a variety of materials to and from job sites with a fleet of Western Star 6 axle dump trucks. Jeremy graduated from Notre Dame College in 2013 with a degree in Sports Management and minor in coaching. He played baseball for the Notre Dame Falcons, and is a 2016 Graduate of the “Rising Leaders” program, a leadership development program offered through the OSU Fisher College of Business and the Central Ohio Builders Exchange. His college career helped him learn the importance of time management, discipline, scheduling, and meeting deadlines.Tyler Carper
Vice President
Tyler started his career at Boss EGI while in high school and continued through college spending his weekends, summers, and breaks working in the field as a laborer. Tyler earned is Bachelor of Science in Construction Systems Management with a minor in Business Management from The Ohio State University in 2017, and went on to graduate from the Fisher School of Business/Builders Exchange, “Rising Leaders” program in 2018 before assuming his role as Vice President of Boss EGI. During his tenure, Tyler’s business acumen has been uncompromising, demonstrating his keen ability to manage multiple projects and resources while identifying and mitigating potential risks. It’s this skill that has set him apart in the industry where he has become known for his accuracy, integrity, and fairness. Tyler has a tenacity second to none. When it comes to managing current relationships with with new business where the partnerships are fair and profitable for all parties and include well-known companies throughout Ohio. Tyler’s main responsibilities at Boss EGI is estimating and project managing. It’s no surprise that Tyler is a trusted leader at Boss EGI, whether he is working side by side in the field, or overseeing bids, he encourages everyone to do their best and take pride in the work Boss EGI is doing. When Tyler is not pouring over business plans, you can find him golfing, hiking, and spending time with his wife Kayleigh and their 3 Golden Retrievers.Michael Tisler

Michael Tisler has been with Boss EGI since July 2015. As a proud graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Michael’s analytical nature makes him an excellent problem solver who is willing to get things done. Michael started his career at Boss EGI in the field as a laborer where he gained insightful knowledge and experience before getting promoted to estimator. Like his coworkers, Michael still spends time working in the field to keep a competitive edge. His previous experience in logistics and union negotiations along with his field experience at Boss EGI, have helped him become a respected estimator winning highly sought after bids. When Michael isn’t working, you’ll find him golfing, watching the Cincinnati Bengals and Reds or relaxing with friends.Pete Bogetich

Natalie Carper
Controller
Natalie brings an extensive background in accounting and client management, having previously worked at Deloitte and Cherry Becker. It was Natalie’s accounting and customer management experience that made her a natural choice for BOSS EGI where she has been since the initial startup. Natalie’s passion has helped Boss Excavating & Grading become the million dollar company that it is today. She excels at maintaining positive relationships throughout the construction industry and continues to demonstrate her leadership skills. Natalie is a 2017 Graduate of the “Rising Leaders” program, a leadership development program offered through the OSU Fisher College of Business and the Central Ohio Builders Exchange. In her spare time, Natalie is an avid runner in her community and enjoys spending time watching her two sons participate in their various sporting activities.Andrew Allen
Safety Coordinator
Andy is a 1989 graduate of Westland High School and a US Navy Veteran who served overseas in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. After the military Andy pursued a career in manufacturing that span nearly 20 years in which he served as a member on multiple safety committees. In the mid 2000’s he made the jump to the Corporate environment after graduating for My Computer Career. He would spend the next ten years here and continued to serve as a voluntary member of the safety team. Andy joined Boss Excavating and Grading in 2017 as the Safety Coordinator responsible for all aspects of safety. He is a certified OSHA Outreach Trainer, certified competent person in Trenching and Excavation and Confined Spaces as well as CPR and First Aid. Andy is also a certified SWPPP inspector for Erosion control.Melanie Wagner

Joining the Boss EGI team in Feb 2019, Melanie brings her positive attitude and organizational skills to our expanding Accounts Payable Dept. With 15+ years of office experience, she enjoys sharing ideas and implementing new processes to make the accounting department at Boss more efficient. Melanie is a wife & mother of 2 boys and 4 furchildren. In her free time, she delights in watching her sons participate in sporting activities, reading, and walks in the park with her family.Ann Krai
